The Challenge
Japs-Olson Company, a printing and direct mail company, has built its reputation on providing customized, quality solutions to high-level customers nationwide. For over 100 years, they’ve poured effort into their customers through their full in-house printing capabilities, high volume of direct mail pieces and optimization services—but in 2024, it was time to pour this effort back into themselves.
Japs-Olson had years of work to showcase and unique capabilities to position, but their website didn’t tell the full story. From functionality issues, an outdated design, lack of personalized messaging and poor user experience, Japs-Olson had outgrown their longstanding site and was ready for a refresh—in design, in functionality and in brand messaging.
The Solution
Enter JO—the refreshed brand persona of Japs-Olson Company and the foundation for the updated website, completed through Japs-Olson’s partnership with Pepper Group.
Pepper Group knew that to create a final product that told the story, capabilities and breadth of experience of JO, we needed to reframe how they were positioned overall. That’s where JO came in. JO is a representation of everyone who works for Japs-Olson—a down-to-earth, likable, approachable group of people who are passionate about what they do. This persona guided the overall copy, messaging and design direction of the website.
Moreover, the design work focused on aligning the site with the new brand guidelines, creatively integrating the Minneapolis skyline, the place JO calls home, and a UX-friendly design—ensuring the look of the website complemented the story of JO.
Lastly, the Pepper Group team brought our A+ efforts when it comes to website quality assurance, development and testing to ensure the updated site operated at peak performance and would be able to grow with JO as they embarked on the new era of their company.
